Title»DIA isolation scheme editor needs an instrument method mode
Assigned To»donmarsh@proteinms.net
Type»Defect
Area»Skyline
Priority»3
Milestone»2.1
Because many people are not using Skyline to create their DIA methods (especially AB SCIEX users), they are finding it confusing to translate thier DIA methods into the current DIA isolation scheme editor. The following support request is a good example:

https://skyline.gs.washington.edu/labkey/announcements/home/support/thread.view?rowId=5032

See the images in the 5th post and my explanation in the 6th. The instrument isolation list shows:

400.0 - 425.0
424.0 - 450.0
449.0 - 475.0
474.0 - 500.0
etc.

Which needs to be translated to the following in the current Skyline UI:

400.5 - 424.5 - 0.5
424.5 - 449.5 - 0.5
449.5 - 474.5 - 0.5
474.5 - 499.5 - 0.5
etc.

This is not at all intuitive. We spent a good bit of time going back and forth on whether it was more intuitive to show what we came to call the "extraction windows" versus the "instrument isolation windows", and eventually decided on the the "extraction windows", but clearly when a user is starting from isolation windows as specified in the instrument method, then they would be most successful with a UI that showed them these same values.

We need a checkbox or combo box (Isolation windows: [ Instrument | Extraction ]) that would allow the user who posted this support request to enter:

400.0 - 425.0 - 0.5
424.0 - 450.0 - 0.5
449.0 - 475.0 - 0.5
474.0 - 500.0 - 0.5
etc.

And then change to "Extraction" to see the view we are currently showing.

Really need to do this for v2.6. It does cause extra support. People are not very clear on the difference between "extraction windows" (which is what we show exclusively now) and "acquisition windows".
